Julie Wiebe, BSc, MPT has over fifteen years of clinical experience in both Sports Medicine and Women’s Health. Combining these disciplines led her to create a unique approach to rehabilitation and return to fitness and sport. Applying the concepts of sports medicine to the particular health needs of women following pregnancy and childbirth led to the development of a unique Core-recruitment system, driven by the diaphragm and pelvic floor.
Her passion is to revolutionize the mainstream perception of the pelvic floor. She pursues this through innovative rehabilitation and fitness programs that promote pelvic floor integration into exercise and manual therapy programs. Julie shares her evidence-based approach with other professionals through continuing education programs in the US and Canada. Course participants have successfully integrated the pelvic floor into programming for a variety of patient populations including sports medicine, orthopedics, women’s health, pediatrics and adult neuro.
Julie has been an invited speaker at Women’s College Hospital, Sick Kids Hospital, Queen Alexandra Centre for Children’s Health, The Association of Perinatal Naturopathic Doctors, The University of Saskatchewan, BC Centre for Ability and private clinics. She will be sharing her approach with the women’s health, sports medicine, and pediatrics sections at the APTA Combined Sections Meeting in February 2012.
When not trying to change the world one pelvic floor at a time, Julie is happy to focus on her other passions: being mom to the Z’s (Zoe and Zack), and wife to David.
